ARPTC and Stars Rugby 7s Set to Host June High Performance Camp
LITTLE ROCK, Ark., American Rugby Pro Training Center (ARPTC) and Stars Rugby 7s announced today a joint Men’s and Women’s High Performance Camp to be held in Little Rock, Arkansas. The rugby programs are joining together to provide a high performance development pathway for athletes seeking to improve their game and prepare for an upcoming season, tour or elite selection camp. Players will arrive for camp on June 9th, with training taking place on the 10th through 12th.
ARPTC provides a comprehensive development environment through High Performance Camps and Full-Time Residency Programs. Stars Rugby 7s provides competitive touring opportunities, along with other ARPTC partners, Tiger Rugby and Atlantis. The collaboration reinforces all aspects of the development pathway from full immersion in a high-performance environment to implementing learned skills on tour.
"The ARPTC High Performance 7s camps have been an integral part of our athlete and coaching development,” said Liz Entwhistle, Director of Stars Rugby 7s. “The focus on player education through skill-work, principles of play, game theory, and video analysis is consistently improving our athletes' caliber of play as evidenced in the final inter-camp scrimmages. The added benefits of nutrition, mental skills, strength & conditioning instruction in the on-site gym, fitness testing and the camaraderie and community forged can't be matched.”
High Performance Camp attendees also have the opportunity to become full-time residents by being hand-selected by the ARPTC Coaching Staff based on camp performance.
“HP camps allow players a taste of what the ARPTC full-time residency program has to offer and the supportive environment and community we bring at ARPTC,” said ARPTC coach Ellie Karvoski. “In a nutshell, we offer tools to help athletes PLAYUP, which in turn increases their chances of meeting specific rugby goals, such as being selected for the next level.”
With an exceptionally low coach to player ratio, players receive individual attention and tailored feedback critical to achieving individual goals. ARPTC staff includes coaches Julie McCoy, Ellie Karvoski, Laura Cabrera, Donna Thomas, and Kate Turpin, with the mental skills coaching from Mattison Grey. The strength and conditioning program is led by Sean Ross, of Ross Strength and Speed, and game analysis is supported by Lisa Rosen.
ARPTC coaching staff select camp attendees through referrals from club team coaches, USA Rugby National Team coaches, or USA Rugby Academy coaches. Referrals may be submitted via the ARPTC website. Details can be found at www.americanrugbypro.com.

About Stars Rugby 7s:
Stars Rugby 7s was founded in November 2013 with the mission of developing rugby 7s players in elite tournament settings. Teams compete in multiple high performance assemblies and international tournaments each year with a deep talent pool combining internationally capped 7s and XVs players, elite prospects, athletically gifted players new to the game of 7s, and crossover athletes. There is a major focus on recruiting players that lack regular exposure to high level coaching /playing opportunities due to geographic restraints and the lack of resources which varies greatly throughout the United States. While mostly US based, the Stars rosters include players from Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK and welcomes any players committed to the team and rugby camaraderie. Tours have included the Las Vegas Invitational, Vancouver 7s, Calgary Stampede 7s, Australia's Byron Bay 7s & Central Coast 7s, Tobago 7s, Serevi Rugbytown 7s, Atlanta 7s, NY 7s and Cape Fear 7s with numerous championship appearances and titles won. In fall of 2014 the program expanded to the XVs game with matches against Life University and the Capital Selects and additional fixtures slated for 2016 & 2017.
